Boele-Woelki on Erik Jayme and the Hague Academy of International Law
Katharina Boele-Woelki (Bucerius Law School) has posted Erik Jayme and the Hague Academy of International Law on SSRN.
The abstract reads:
This contribution (to be published in: M. Gebauer/C. Kern/H. Kronke/H.-P. Mansel/T. Pfeiffer/M.-P. Weller (eds.), Gedächtnisschrift für Erik Jayme 2027) explores the significance of Erik Jayme for the Hague Academy of International Law. No other German legal scholar has ever had as much influence over, or a vision for, the Academy’s ongoing development and maintenance of academic excellence as Jayme did when he joined the Curatorium in 1998 at the age of 64. By that time, he had already taught a Special Course in private international law at The Hague summer school in 1982 and a General Course in 1995, publishing his work in the world-renowned Collected Courses/Receuil des Cours series. His Opening Lecture in 2000 was published in the series, and he added a Lecture to the summer programme of 2014 as a replacement for George Bermann’s General Course. He was once again responsible for the Opening Lecture in 2015. These five contributions constitute the core of this tribute. The content is briefly presented and analysed in the current context, with an attempt being made to find a common thread.
