The EAPIL Winter School is organised by the European Association of Private International Law in cooperation with the Department of Law, Economics and Cultures of the University of Insubria, the Law Faculty of the University of Murcia, the Law Faculty of the Jagiellonian University in Kraków and the Law Faculty of the Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek. More information on the EAPIL Working Group overseeing the Winter School, chaired by Silvia Marino, can be found here.

Launched in 2024, the School is held annually, on-site, at the University of Insubria, in the cloister of the Basilica di Sant’Abbondio (Como), each edition being devoted to a particular topic, chosen in light of the most significant recent developments in the area.

The EAPIL Winter School is co-funded by the Jean Monnet Module EuPILART and the Insubria International Summer/Winter School – IISS program.

The School is mainly targeted to PhD students, young scholars, and young practitioners from EU Member States and other European countries. The Winter School has the ambition of training a new class of future experts in European Private International Law through tradition face-to-face lessons, case law analysis, debates, workshops, and moot court competitions.

The participants are encouraged to play an active role in the proposed activities, and work in teams.

Lecturers are chosen among academics, magistrates and lawyers.
