French Symposium on the International Element in Contracts
On 9 February 2026, the French Cour de Cassation will hold a one-day symposium titled Revisiting the international element in contracts (Revisiter l’internationalité du contrat).
The event is organised by the Société de Législation Comparée, the Cour de Cassation and the academic research unit GREDEG (Côte d’Azur University), and is coordinated by Gustavo Cerqueira (Côte d’Azur University), Giulio Cesare Giorgini (Côte d’Azur University) and Nicolas Nord (Strasbourg University).
The abstract reads as follows:
The idea of internationality, as applied to contracts, is evolving. Whether desired, outdated, rejected or even endured, several developments call for a new perspective on this concept, which is central to the definition of the contract legal regime and the tensions between domestic and international justice in this area.
