The Hague Academy Summer Course of 2027

The Hague Academy of International Law has made known the programme of the summer course of Private International Law of 2027.

The course will be opened by Pierre Mayer (Emeritus Professor at the University Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne) with the inaugural lecture entitled Private International Law and Normative Competence of States.

The general course, titled International Commercial Contracts in Arbitration: the Open, the Hidden and the Denied Influence of Domestic Legal Traditions, will be given by Giuditta Cordero-Moss (University of Oslo).

The special courses will be as follows: Marie-Elodie Ancel (University Paris-Panthéon-Assas), Adjudicating Direct International Jurisdiction in Civil and Commercial Matters; Patrick J. Borchers (Creighton University), U.S. Developments in Jurisdiction to Adjudicate and Prescribe: a Critique and International Ramifications; Qisheng He (Peking University), Developments in the Chinese Practice of Private International Law; Grégoire Jiogue (University of Yaoundé II), International Insolvency in Comparative Law (OHADA, European and UNCITRAL); Eva-Maria Kieninger (University of Würzburg), International Property Law and Secured Transactions; Dai Yokomizo (Nagoya University), The Role and Position of States vis-à-vis Contemporary Conflict of Laws.

The directors of studies will be Rui Dias (University of Coimbra) for the English-speaking section and Sarah Laval (University of Littoral Côte d’Opale) for the French-speaking session.

Applicants are required to register online. A limited amount of scholarships is available. The registration period for full fee, scholarship, doctoral scholarship and Directed Studies applicants is between 1 November 2026 and 31 January 2027.
