The Hague Academy Winter Course of 2027
The registrations for the Hague Academy Winter Course of 2027 will be open from 1 May 2026 to 1 October 2026 for full fee applicants, and from 1 May 2026 to 31 July 2026 for scholarship applicants.
The course will be opened by Danilo Türk (Emeritus Professor at the University of Ljubljana) with a lecture on International Law: a Constitution or a Gentle Civiliser of National Interest?.
The general course, titled International Law as a System of Claims, will be given by Pierre d’Argent (Université catholique de Louvain).
The special courses will be as follows: Bogdan-Lucian Aurescu (International Court of Justice), New Developments in International Law, in Particular in the Law of the Sea, in Relation to Sea-Level Rise; Ingrid Brunk (Vanderbilt Law School), Territory in International Law: Statehood, Natural Resources, and Human Rights; Olivier de Frouville (University Paris-Panthéon-Assas), Cosmopolitanism in International Law; Serena Forlati (University of Ferrara), Abuse of Process before International Courts and Tribunals; Dulce Lopes (University of Coimbra), Private International Law through the Lens of Non-Discrimination; Wenhua Shan (Xi’an Jiaotong University), International Investment Law: a Chinese Perspective.
The directors of studies will be Massimo Lando (National University of Singapore) for the English-speaking section, and Apollin Koagne Zouapet (International Court of Justice) for the French-speaking section.
All applicants are required to register online. A limited amount of scholarships is available. Selected attendees of the Winter Courses will also be able to participate in the doctoral networking sessions, coordinated by Letizia Lo Giacco (Grotius Centre for International Legal Studies), additional afternoon lectures, embassy visits and social activities.
